Pirekua is a traditional song sung by both men and women in the puepeja community of indigenous people in the Mexican state of michoacan. Music blends African, European and native American styles, and there are 30 regional variations found in prepeja's 165 communities. Pilugua usually sings in a gentle rhythm, but different rhythms can be used in non-vocal music, such as saenz (3/8 beats) and abajenos (6/8 beats). Pilugua can be sung solo, duet or trio, or accompanied by a choir, string and mixed orchestra (on wind instruments). Pireriecha (Pireriecha) is a Pireriecha singer and performer who is famous for his creativity and interpretation of old songs. Lyrics cover from historical events, religious events, social and political thoughts, love and courtship, etc., symbols are widely used. Pilugua has served as an effective medium for dialogue between the families and communities of the prepeja and has helped to establish and strengthen links. Pireriechas also became social media, using songs to express emotions and bring important events to the community of prepeja. Traditionally passed down orally from generation to generation, pilugua has continued to serve as a means for the people of prepeja to express their lives, identity and artistic communication.
