A large exhibition and fair showcasing about 50 intangible cultural heritage items opened on Friday in Xi'an, the historic capital city of Shaanxi Province. Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the provincial government, more than 300 exhibitors of intangible cultural heritage from 12 provinces and autonomous regions in western China attended the event.

The 3rd Western China's Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition and Cultural Industry Fair in Xi'an, is also recognized as a major event of the ongoing 16th Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between Eastern and Western China.

The exhibition is being held in "Tang West Market", a retro-style plaza reviving the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty, the most prosperous dynasty that placed its capital in Xi'an. Museum directors, relic collectors and demonstrators of traditional cultural heritages gathered for the occasion, including puppet-lion dancing performers from Jiangxi Province.
